King Gizzard and the Lizard Wizard have claimed the 2016 ARIA Award for Best Heavy Metal/Hard Rock album.
The Melbourne septet won for Nonagon Infinity, their breakthrough which saw them touch the US charts earlier this year. They got the gong ahead of the other nominees Parkway Drive (Ire), The Amity Affliction (This Could be Heartbreak), Hellions (Opera Oblivia) and Twelve Foot Ninja (Outlier).
The win comes on the eve of their huge national Gizzfest tour that also features Pond, Stonefield, Mild High Club, Boulevards, White Fence and more, kicking off in Brisbane this weekend.
