Tasmania’s annual counter-culture festival Dark Mofo returns from June 16.
Following last year’s cancellation and a few controversies around the art program for this year, the full announcement has been revealed. Among the musical acts appearing this year is punk/noise rock icon Thurston Moore of Sonic Youth, plus Om in an Australian exclusive performance. The Screams from the Abyss event features the return of Australian metal legends Misery, The Amenta and Pod People, plus Adelaide’s Altar Defecation and the claustrophobic dissonance of Growth. Lo!, Injured Ninja, Threats and Drug Cult will also be appearing together at the Odeon. Dark Mofo’s program also includes dark ambience, Hi-NRG EDM, electronica and off-beat experimental rock of all shades plus an extensive array of challenging and provocative art and performance, plus the Winter Feast and Nude Solstice Swim in the Derwent River.
Dark Mofo runs from June 16 to 22 in and around the centre of Hobart.
