Marsha Zazula, who co-founded Megaforce Records in the early 80s, has died of cancer at 68.

Growing from their New Jersey record store Rock n Roll Heaven, Marsha and husband Jon formed their label in 1982 and the following year launched Metallica’s career with the release of Kill ’em All. Megaforce also found success with Anthrax, Testament, Raven, Ace Frehley, Overkill, Manowar, Savatage, Mercyful Fate and more, with Marsha also often acting as den mother to many of the label’s acts. Her passing was announced on January 9.
